Request for your Prayers
By: Anji Miranda-Catalla

Hello Everyone!

Tomorrow, May 28th at 7:30 am, I will be having my surgery: laparoscopy & cystectomy at St. Luke's Hospital in San Antonio, TX. The laparoscopy was long ovedue since last yr w/c i've been putting off for quite some time now. However, due to a recent finding of a cyst in my right ovary through a recent sonogram & a high count of cancer antigens from a blood test, a partial hysterectomy called for an urgent attention.

Please include me in your prayers... for strength & courage & for a quick recovery... so i won't be missing out on your emails for long... i have requested my mother to be with me at this time... she just arrived from the Philippines last Friday... Thank God!

I'll be in touch again as soon as i'm able to... promise! meantime, keep sending those funny jokes or just drop a line or two so i'll have something to look forward to... thanx !!!

will be back soon...

Ciao!

ANJI

Thought Sharing

Hello, Chona! It seems to me that the homecoming planning is going very well. Great job! I was just in the Philippines recently, for my only sister living there had passed away. The loss of a loved one is always hard. One is reminded of one's mortality. But one moves on with more appreciation to life and the blessings bestowed upon us. While there, I took the time to visit SPCM after 22+ years. I was rather surprised by the present surrounding--so cosmopolitan, but in a negative way. I was almost disappointed with, and overwhelmed by the present setting, but I visited the school, nonetheless. I was expecting the mischievous HS girls walking around or hanging out. Of course, that was only a wishful thought. I had gone to the chapel after a brief walk around. The lovely chapel seemed unchanged.I found time to have stood still, or so it seemed.I felt like that teenage girl in the 70's. It was a rather good experience if not an almost strange feeling. But I had to come back to reality. I visited the Alumni Assoc. Office afterward. The reception was very warm. Unfortunately, I can not remember the name of the lady who'd entertained me. She showed me the SPCM hotel which is having the finishing touch. It is quite a lovely hotel. The rooms are quite eminiscent of classical Italian and French design. Since the hotel has a nice reception room, how
about a brief get together at our alma mater, as part of our homecoming? Just a thought. Take care.

Sincerely,
Arilda
